Joan Miller, 84, peacefully passed away on November 29, 2106 at home in Evergreen Village, Normal, Illinois.
Joan was born in Macon County on August 21, 1932 to Ralph and Hazel (Bridgman) Thompson. She married Louis J. Miller in 1984, he preceded her in death in September 2004.
Joan was an extraordinary waitress for decades, working at Stried's Restaurant for 20 years. She cultivated many long lasting friendships while working there.
She is survived by one daughter, Pam Stegeman of Bloomington; sisters, Opal Bowers of Dixon, Mary Jane (William) Carr of Moweaqua; brother, Donald Thompson...

Joan was an extraordinary waitress for decades, working at Stried's Restaurant for 20 years. She cultivated many long lasting friendships while working there.
She is survived by one daughter, Pam Stegeman of Bloomington; sisters, Opal Bowers of Dixon, Mary Jane (William) Carr of Moweaqua; brother, Donald Thompson of Gulf Port, MS. Also surviving are Lou's daughters, Sandy Dorley of Canada, Gail (Terry) Benton of Sherman, Erin (Mike) DeChaney of Mackinaw. Her blended family survivors include five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; eleven nieces and nephews, Gary (Cindy) Thompson, Rick (Deb) Bowers, Douglas (Deb) Thompson, Kevin (Deb) Bowers, Jerry (Jill) Bowers, Vicki Boyd, Crystal (Bill) Dithen, David (Barb) Carr, Julie (Joe) Brady, Donita Harrison, Scott (Wendy) Bowers and their families.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; her son-in-law; one brother-in-law and one granddaughter.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday December 3, 2016 in the East Lawn Funeral Home, 1102 Airport Road, Bloomington, with a visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
