James W. (Woody) Gaffney, 87, passed away March 25, 2015, at Liberty Village, Le Roy.
His funeral will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, March 28, 2015 at East Lawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11-1:00 pm before the service.
James was born March 9, 1928 in Ellsorth, IL to parents James H. and Nellie Schinault Gaffney. He was a farmer before joining the 82nd Airbourne as a paratrooper. He worked at Ralston Purina/Cargill, approximately 40 years before retiring in 1990.

He met and married Lourstine (Teen) Bicknell on July 27, 1948. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, 4 children, James B. (Shirley) Gaffney, Peoria; Diana (AJ) Bailey, Wapella; Bonnie (Jerry) Albert, LeRoy; Rick (Debi) Gaffney, LeRoy; 7 grandchildren, Tamara (Brett) Ahrens, James Bailey, Michele Bailey, Brad (Nicole) Albert, Mindy (Will) Brooks, Brian (LeAnn) Gaffney, Julie Gaffney; 13 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; and 1 sister, Katherine Leathers, Bourbonnais.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step mother Pearl; 6 brother, 4 sisters and 1 grand daughter, Teena Sue Bailey.
He loved Harley motorcycles, gardening, fishing, spending time with his grandkids and being outdoors. He was an avid Cubs Fan. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa and friend. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
